Lightyear 0: Solar-Powered Car

The Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation Park hosted an exhibition of the Lightyear 0. Before distribution in Europe, Dutch firm Lightyear 0 is presently offering its flagship0 model for sale for $244,000; however, no pricing has been announced in advance of the anticipated release in the UAE next year.

The presence of Lightyear 0 at the SRTI Park strengthens the UAE’s position as a country leading the transition to sustainable mobility and, in doing so, helps fight climate change through cutting-edge technologies.

UAE is a crucial market for any solar-powered car on the market due to the country’s high number of daylight hours throughout the year.

As the third-largest solar energy generator in the world, the UAE is the ideal location to test and validate Lightyear 0’s solar extender solutions for electric vehicles.

The five square meters of solar panels that are integrated into the sleek car’s roof and bonnet are part of the Lightyear 0 solar-powered vehicle, which will be produced in Finland.

The solar-powered automobile will use energy effectively, providing drivers additional range and reducing their need for electricity charging. It claims a record-breaking drag coefficient.

The car’s introduction at SRTI Park comes after the two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen Lightyear 0’s expanding international presence outside of the Netherlands. It also reflects Sharjah’s growing international significance in supporting the development of sustainable mobility solutions through SRTI Park.

The two parties will investigate several initiatives to promote solar-powered vehicles and sustainable mobility in the area, including the creation of Lightyear 0 testing facilities and regional sales and service support.

Lightyear 0 and SRTI Park, two businesses with education at their core, want to establish university research exchange programs on solar-powered electric cars (EVs) and develop policy initiatives that support government incentives for electric vehicles, especially EVs with solar extensions.
