Spanish green energy conglomerate GRI Renewable Industries (GRI) and ARP, Poland’s Industrial Development Agency, have announced that they have signed an agreement for the launch of a joint venture company for the construction of an offshore wind tower factory in Gdansk – a Polish port city on the Baltic coast.  GRI is an experienced offshore wind tower maker.

ARP said that the estimated value of the investment is more than EUR 200 million and production will start in 2025. The joint venture will begin the development with the hiring of 400 workers for the upcoming factory.

ARP said in its press release that planned investment and partnership with experienced foreign partners will help in offshore wind energy expansion as domestic companies of Poland will co-produce and participate in the supply chain of renewable energy.

According to reports the upcoming factory will be located on the Ostrów island and have direct access to a mooring quay. The facility will feature a large offshore tower production hall that will make towers for wind turbines. The produced turbines will be of 14MW or above capacities. As per ARP, the facility will make over 200 offshore wind towers every year.

The companies held that the new investment in the factory is aimed at meeting the rising demand for offshore wind energy towers in Poland and the entire Baltic Sea area.

Mateusz Berger, Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure, stated, “Offshore wind turbines will be manufactured in our country and in this way we involve domestic companies as co-manufacturers and create an offshore wind ecosystem.Working with an experienced partner like GRI allows us to expand our production and service facilities.”

Cezariusz Lesisz, CEO, ARP , said that the factory will meet the highest technical and quality standards set by key customers in the offshore wind energy market.

“We are very proud to participate in this major wind energy project towards sustainability and carbon neutrality. This joint venture will create a world leader in the offshore market which is becoming more and more demanding year after year” said Jon Riberas, Executive Chairman of GRI.
