GameChange Solar bags 2.3GW Worth Solar Tracker Deals In Florida, US

GameChange Solar announced today that the company has been awarded a group of projects totaling 2.3 GW in the U.S. state of Florida. These systems include sites designed for wind gusts of 241 km per hour.

Derick Botha, Chief Commercial Officer of GameChange Solar, said: “The ability of our robust Genius Track™ system to survive wind speeds in excess of 241 km per hour was a critical part of our ability to win this large group of projects.”

The US firm also has an office in Bengaluru, India. Offering fixed tilt racking with over 29 GW sold worldwide, the firm has a total manufacturing capacity of 36 GW worth trackers, with most of it based in the US. The Genius tracker systems have been the flagship offering from the firm in recent months.

The solar tracker market has been energised in the past few years on the back of larger modules with higher outputs, as well as the spread of bifacials, both of which make a stronger case for the use of trackers. It is also one of the few market segments of the solar supply  chain where non-chinese players can be competitive, as proximity matters to eventual costs a lot more here. Firms like Nextracker have already carved out a strong share of the market. In India too, solar trackers, besides solar cleaning systems, is one area where  domestic startups have been hard at work trying to wrest market share from strong global players.
