The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Solar Energy Corporation of India  (SECI) will now mutually work together on taking up an ‘off site’ solar power venture, to augment the utilization of renewable energy, alleviate the effect of standard increment in grid tariffs and to decrease the carbon foot prints.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with this goal was marked recently in the vicinity of DMRC Managing Dir. Dr. Mangu Singh and other senior authorities from DMRC and SECI.

According to the MoU, both the organisations will work together for sourcing extra additional requirements by Delhi Metro from other developers not on DMRC sites within the National Capital Region (NCR).

In the initial stage, 500 MWp capacities of ground mounted solar power ventures are targeted. The entire procedure of tendering and leading offering process/e-auction should be led by SECI. DMRC should go into Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Developer as may be chosen by the DMRC out of the names selected and sent after the entire tendering procedure by SECI.

For the above mentioned project to get specific end goal, DMRC and SECI will constitute a Joint Development Team (JDT), which will comprise of senior authorities from both the organisations.

JDT should choose the Activity Arrangement in accomplishing the target of DMRC in the most ideal way through coordinated effort with SECI.

As per the earlier MoU dated 17thSep 2013, both the organizations have additionally decided to extend the understanding incorporated and further work together for the improvement of solar PV Ventures (ground mounted, housetop and other conceivable modes) at identified DMRC sites.
