Highlights :

  • Vestas will be supplying V150-4.5 MW turbines for the Serra de Assuruá wind farm.
  • It will also deliver a 25-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement.

Danish wind turbine giant Vestas has announced that it has expanded its partnership with Engie Brasil Energia SA with the 288 MW order of 64 units of wind turbines for wind energy project in Brazil.

The official statement of Vestas hold that it will be supplying V150-4.5 MW turbines for the Serra de Assuruá wind farm, located in the municipality of Gentio do Ouro, in the state of Bahia, Brazil.

Vestas held that as announced on September 30, 2022, both companies signed an agreement to implement the largest wind project in Latin America. Once the wind farm is complete and operational, it will have a total nominal capacity of 846 MW.

Vestas will also deliver a 25-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. This agreement will optimise energy production while also providing long-term business case certainty.

Eduardo Ricotta, President of Vestas Latin America, said, “It is a pleasure to work in partnership with ENGIE Brasil Energia and reinforce the joint commitment to facilitate and accelerate the energy transition in Brazil. At Vestas we will continue working to contribute to the development of the Brazilian energy matrix based on wind energy and closely with our partners to continue developing large-scale projects such as the Serra de Assuruá.”

The turbine maker also informed that the delivery and commercial operation of Serra do Assuruá is estimated to start gradually from the second half of 2024.

The business of Vestas is rising in leap and bounds as the world is bullish on the renewable energy and wind energy dominates it. Recently, the company received a 236 MW order from Suomen Hyötytuuli Oy to power the Siikajoki wind project in Finland. Similarly, Vestas will also be supplying 84 units of the V236-15.0 MW turbines to a joint venture of Shell and Hexicon AB for a 1.3 GW floating wind facility in South Korea.

Vestas has installed more than 160 GW of wind turbines in 88 countries, which it claims to be more wind power than any other player.
