To invest in 33.8 MW of brand-new renewable energy projects in India, Mumbai-based CleanMax Enviro Energy Solutions (CleanMax) has teamed up with Meta, the world’s largest internet corporation that owns facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp, among other properties.

The projects will feature 21.6 MW of wind and 12.2 MW of solar power systems. The previous year, the two companies had reached an agreement for wind energy projects totaling 32 MW. The projects will be owned and managed by CleanMax, and Meta will pay for all of their green features. The two companies have invested 65 MW in renewable energy in total.

Once operational, the CleanMax wind-solar hybrid farm will have a total capacity of 364 MW, made up of 154 MW of wind and 210 MW of solar.

“We are committed to supporting Meta’s future efforts toward net zero and are working to strengthen our connection with them through the new power projects. We have been industry leaders in corporate sustainability since the founding of CleanMax in 2011 and are immensely proud of our capacity to provide specialised solutions for corporate clients. A good move in that direction is the continuation of the cooperation with Meta,” according to Kuldeep Jain, founder and managing director of CleanMax.

In states where Meta has facilities as well, the two businesses partnered last year (2021) to create a portfolio of wind and solar projects bringing green energy into India’s electrical grid. To provide renewable energy to its business clients, CleanMax runs over 600 MW of massive solar and wind farms. In India, the United Arab Emirates, and Thailand, CleanMax has deployed 600 rooftop solar projects for businesses, totaling more than 350 MW of operating rooftop solar power.

Earlier, D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI), a leading U.S. producer of renewable energy, announced the signing of a long-term renewable energy offtake agreement with Meta. The 200 MWac Long Lake Project (also known as Long Lake) will be built in Phillips County, Arkansas. A power purchase agreement (PPA) between DESRI and Meta will provide energy and capacity to help the region meet its growing energy needs.
