Enphase and Salcomp showcase Make in India partnership for solar microinverters

Enphase Energy Inc. global energy management technology company and the world’s leading supplier of microinverter-based solar-plus-storage systems, today showcased its India manufacturing unit, set up in partnership with Salcomp—a world-leading company in high precision manufacturing. The Enphase-Salcomp unit has emerged as India’s largest solar inverter manufacturer by numbers with an annual capacity of more than 6 million units. Based at Salcomp SEZ in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, it produces the Enphase IQ Microinverters, which are currently being exported, thus making the unit one of the largest solar equipment exporters in India by the number of units.

The Enphase IQ microinverters are some of the most advanced solar inverters in the market that enhance solar energy output while making the entire solar energy system more reliable, efficient, and safer. Every microinverter is powered by semiconductor integration, predictive control, and a technically configurable architecture. And each microinverter undergoes rigorous functional and reliability testing. The one-of-a-kind, high-tech automation manufacturing unit is certified with ISO 14001, ISO 27001, ISO 45001, and ISO 9001. Over 60 percent of its global workforce is based in India, thanks to the manufacturing set up as well as the high software integration and development their products demand.

The Chennai Plant

The Enphase IQ Microinverter stands out for its warranty of up to 25 years. Since the beginning of the production in 2020, a substantial amount of Enphase microinverters and other components for Enphase Global were manufactured by Salcomp in India. Enphase has exported several millions of microinverters from India, mainly to North America, Europe, and Asia pacific.

Talking about the manufacturing for Enphase Energy, Sasikumar Gendham, MD Salcomp India, said, “Green energy has become the center of attention globally for a sustainable future.
