EDF Renewables Signs1 GW of Solar & Storage Projects in New York

Highlights :

EDF Renewables will install a 350 MWac solar power plant with 20 MW of co-located storage in the towns of Columbia and Litchfield.

EDF Renewables will install a 240 MWac solar power plant with 20 MW of co-located storage in St. Lawrence County.

France-headquartered renewable energy producer, EDF Renewables has been awarded three large solar projects by New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

The total capacity of all three renewable projects is 1GW which is including with 20 MW of co-located battery storage also.

  • EDF Renewables will install a 240 MWac solar power plant with 20 MW of co-located storage in St. Lawrence County.

With more than 1,000 MW of solar and storage projects remaining in the pipeline, we are looking forward to collaborating with NYSERDA and New York State to meet the 70% by 2030 goal and provide clean energy to New Yorkers.”

“Throughout the development, building, and operational phases, the region will benefit from procurement and job possibilities. During peak construction, the projects will generate about 1,290 prevailing wage and union construction jobs in upstate New York, as well as millions of dollars in revenue for the Counties, Towns, and School Districts during the project’s operational life.”

EDF Renewables previously announced the commissioning of four new solar farms in Israel with a combined capacity of 54 MW. It also adds to the EDF Group’s Cap 2030 goal, which seeks to double the company’s net renewable energy capacity between 2015 and 2030, from 28 GW to 60 GW.

The firm’s current portfolio is wind heavy, with solar constituting 26% of the 13.8 GW gross portfolio. 5.2 GW of this is in North America.
